I hadn’t heard about the brand PaigeLauren until recently and am so glad I found them. Their clothes are absolutely adorable–for girls AND boys. Paige started the company because she was frustrated with the lack of classic and cute baby clothes when out shopping for her friends’ babies. Her outfits are simple and unique–no catchy gimmicks . . . → Read More: PaigeLauren baby review
For many parents, the first 3-4 weeks with a newborn can be pretty challenging and a big part of that is a lack of sleep. It’s just part of having a newborn! But the situation is even worse if the baby is having trouble sleeping, too. Swaddling is a very important part of a newborn’s life, but must be done safely and effectively so everyone can get some sleep!
Of course as first-time parents of our son, Ryan, we were super paranoid about safety and the number one name associated with safety and swaddling is the Halo SleepSack. We received our first Halo SleepSack when Ryan was about 1 month old. It only took a few attempts before we were Halo Swaddling masters and it was much easier and faster than using a swaddle blanket! With our second on the way, a baby girl, we wanted to make sure that we had a few Halo SleepSacks available in cute pink colors!
I love the pink swaddle that we received for this review and can’t wait to share this amazing product with one of my lucky readers. There are so many different designs to choose from, including some popular Disney characters. There are also a variety of fabrics including micro-fleece, cotton and organic cotton. There is a safe sleep solution for every parent at Halo thanks to the Halo SleepSack founder, William Schmid. After he lost his daughter to SIDS in 1991, he devoted his life to finding safe, healthy, and simple ways to help babies sleep–thank you, William!
Depending on material and style selection, you can pick up a Halo SleepSack for around $25. Check them at at halosleep.com.

I was interested in this company immediately just because of the name. Tiny Revolutionary was started by BreeAnne and Courtney when they wanted clothing with more meaning for their daughter, Vivianne. They create inspiring children’s clothes that teach about peace, love, hope and responsibility for the world around them.
Kiki’s Fashions makes trendy maternity clothes that are really affordable. They change their inventory frequently so they can stay up to date with hottest trends and styles.
For me, it was really frustrating to reach that stage in pregnancy where your regular clothes no longer fit and you have to start the hunt for maternity clothes. Have you seen most maternity clothes? They’re ugly. Huge. Unflattering. And really expensive. Thankfully I found shops like Kiki’s where most items are under $20 and they’re actually cute!
For my review, I was sent the Gray Fitted Long Sleeve Maternity Sweater. I got it in a size small and it fits perfectly. I probably could have gotten a medium and it would have been fine too. Kiki’s clothes tend to run on the small side so if you aren’t sure, order up!
This sweater is PERFECT. It’s fitted to be flattering on my baby belly and it’s long, that’s my favorite part. When tops are long enough when you’re pregnant, you can wear them with more comfy leggings and boots and if you want. The sweater is a little thin so I always wear a tank top or shirt under it (like my pink one in the picture above), but you’d probably be okay without anything.
In the picture above on the left, you can see a little better how long it is–pretty much goes down over my butt) and fits very well over my belly so there’s plenty of room to grow and the sweater will still be long enough. In the picture on the right, I just wanted you to see the pattern a little better.
This particular sweater also comes in black and khaki and is $25.99. During the current Pre-Fall Sale, you can get 25% off store-wide plus free shipping on orders over $75! Use the code FALL47 at checkout.
GIVEAWAY: one lucky winner will get a $25 gift card to use on anything they want at Kiki’s Fashions! Please use the form below to enter. Ends 10/20.
Swaddling Ryan when he was little was the best thing ever–it’s the only thing that kept him happy and cozy, which means… not crying! It helped him sleep, too, so he wouldn’t startle himself awake. However, there are some things you must know about swaddling! You have to do it correctly in order for it to be safe. There are two aspects to swaddling safely: to avoid suffocation and to prevent hip dysplasia.
Hip Dysplasia is one of the most common conditions among newborn babies, affecting ~1% of North American newborns (~75,000 per year). According to a recent survey conducted by HALO Innovations, 82% of parents choose to swaddle and swaddling improperly can lead to Hip Dysplasia or dislocation. Treatment ranges from wearing a harness or brace to undergoing surgery. These condistions can get worse with age and are linked to early adult arthritis and hip-replacement surgery.
The American Academy of Pediatrics is urging Pediatricians to watch for signs of hip dysplasia and dislocation and to warn parents not to extend their baby’s frog-like legs straight when swaddling. There’s a temptation to stretch the legs out and that needs to be resisted. They need to be able to straighten themselves out naturally and gradually. Parents should allow for room in the swaddle – or sleepsack – for baby to bend at the hips.
One of the best (and by far EASIEST) swaddle methods we found was the Halo SleepSack Swaddle blanket. It replaces loose blankets in the crib (that create suffocation risk) and it is adjustable to keep baby’s arms in (or just 1 arm in, if that’s what they prefer) to help prevent the startle reflex. I always had a hard time getting swaddle blankets tight enough and getting them to stay in place. With the SleepSack Swaddle, that’s not a problem. You put on the wearable blanket (with zipper) and the top part wraps around and secures with velcro–it seriously couldn’t be easier (and faster). They’re a go-to gift of mine for new parents or baby showers.
The SleepSack wearable blanket is the only product that carries the gold seals from leading SIDS and safety organizations and is approved as “Hip Healthy” by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute. A portion of every sale goes to support First Candle/SIDS Alliance and The Canadian Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths.
GIVEAWAY: one lucky winner will get their own Halo SleepSack Swaddle in honor of Baby Safety Month! Winner will get to choose size (newborn or small) and color (boy, girl or neutral). Open to US and Canada. Please use the form below to enter.
