Cuddle Covers giveaway

Cuddle Covers: bring your pillow to life! These are the most adorable (and fun) pillow covers–created by a soon-to-be dad that had memories of dressing up his pillows as cartoon characters for puppet shows when he was little. Now his kids (and yours) can do the same!

It’s really simple… stuff a standard sized pillow into your Cuddle Cover, zip it up, and cuddle! They’re super soft and really fun for kids. Who doesn’t want a dinosaur pillow to play with, cuddle, and then fall asleep on?! Really, our son was soooo excited about his new puppy friend:

It’s probably bigger than most stuffed animals or other plush pillows you own and it’s soft like velvet… I think *I* want one. I lay on Ryan’s all the time when we read books or snuggle in bed. In the picture above, Ryan is of course lying on it in the wrong (typical) direction for a pillow, but that’s how he wanted to cuddle with the puppy… so his head was at the top, haha.

And if you don’t have an extra pillow for your Cuddle Cover? They sell those, too! And it’s also cute! Before Ryan saw his puppy cover, he was excited just about the pillow and all the animals on it, haha:

So great for sleepovers, themed rooms, play rooms, gifts, etc. Personally, I want the dinosaur. And the lion. Ummm, and the cat. They’re just so cute!

You can buy a cover for $19.99 and the pillow for $14.99. For a limited time, buy a cover you will get a mini-version of the same animal for FREE. It’s just $5.95 for shipping. Check out the Covers in action:

GIVEAWAY: one lucky reader will win their own Cuddle Cover and Pillow! Winner can choose cover. Please use the form below to enter–none of the entry options are mandatory so you can do as many or as few as you’d like! Good luck!

KoalaKin hands-free breastfeeding pouch

When I was pregnant with Rebecca, I remembered Ryan’s newborn days and how often he sat at the breast, nursing constantly. I wondered how in the world can I do that again with a toddler running around?! Ryan needs me constantly, so I can’t also be constantly stuck on the couch nursing. It was one of my main concerns.

Then I was told about KoalaKin–a new hands free breastfeeding pouch. The solution to my worries!!! The KoalaKin was created by a mom with the help of lactation consultants, birthing professionals, and other moms.

The KoalaKin is for any mom that needs to (or wants to) nurse with the freedom to use their hands at the same time. Why not use a carrier like a sling or wrap?? Those aren’t made for breastfeeding, so they don’t hold your baby at the right position. I’ve tried. There’s quite a bit of adjustment involved and even then, you’re hunched or the baby is straining for proper nursing. Not with the KoalaKin…

It comes in two pouch sizes and is totally adjustable to fit the different shapes and sizes of all women. I’m short (and short-waisted)–with the straps tightened as much as they can be, it fits perfectly. Rebecca is in the right spot, I don’t have to hunch, I don’t have to hold her up, and she’s so comfy that she often falls asleep there. The XS/S pouch is for babies from birth up to 24 inches. The M/L pouch is for babies from 25 inches up to 30 inches. Both pouches support up to 35 pounds. Rebecca is almost out of the XS/S sized pouch.

I wear this while getting snacks and lunch for Ryan, folding laundry, cleaning, reading, blogging!, and whatever else I can think of, haha. Most importantly, I wear this to get a chance to give Ryan the attention he needs!

Some carriers and things get so complicated to put on with all the straps you have to untangle and sort out. This one is REALLY easy to put on. There are basically only two straps–it goes on just like a backpack would. Then, you have the pouch part hanging in front of you. You hold your baby up to your chest and the pouch has one snap–you connect it with the snap on the shoulder that’s opposite the side you’re nursing from.

What I love: there are 3 adjustable straps so it fits you comfortably and holds your baby snug and close. There’s only one buckle for switching sides while nursing–you don’t have to take the entire thing off or re-wrap or anything like that (it’s so easy). The back straps help distribute weight and make it easy and comfortable to wear.

Look how comfy and cozy Rebecca is :)

This is one of those inventions that was created to solve a problem and fill a need. And it definitely has; it’s awesome for nursing mamas! It works exactly the way it’s supposed to. I can tell you that Ryan loves it, too, because it allows him to have the mommy time he demands, haha.

You can buy the KoalaKin for $89.99 and you can buy an extra pouch for $39.99. It comes in chocolate brown or black/tan (like mine). Make sure you find KoalaKin on facebook and twitter!

Plans for our garden

This post brought to you by Whitney Farms. All opinions are 100% mine.

I've been talking about our new house and the plans we have for it. That includes our big backyard… we have dreams of a playground for Ryan, a sandbox, maybe a pool or hot tub one day… but a realistic goal we have right now is making a garden! Something like this beautiful picture below:

When we were in college, we had a small "rooftop" garden and we loved it! Now that we have all this land, we really want to create a nice space with lots of plants. We always try to use all-natural and organic products, too, so we'd like to use Whitney Farm organic plant food that I recently came across. I can't imagine using anything but organic plant food and organic soil on our plants–that will end up on my children's plates!

Whitney Farms has been around for over 25 years. Their products have little to no dust, no manure odor, and is easy to apply.

I like it because it's organic, it has beneficial microbes for your plants, and it uses specially designed protein-based blends to give your plants all the macro- and micro-nutrients they need! I think we'd use the "tomato and vegetable food" because that's mainly what we want to grow:

Rubbermaid 2-in-1 Recycler giveaway

One of the newest products from Rubbermaid… the 2-in-1 Recycler! I explained to Rubbermaid our current situation: we have a trash can that’s kept in a cabinet. We do recycle, but our bin is out in the garage and sometimes we’re in a hurry (or just plain lazy) and our recyclables end up on the kitchen counter, in a plastic bag if we’re lucky. It wasn’t pretty and it wasn’t a good solution.

Rubbermaid suggested we try the 2-in-1 Recycler and sent us one for our review. It holds your trash and recyclables in ONE place.

Ryan is modeling the product for you (yes, in his diaper, lol). The bottom compartment holds an 8-gallon trash bag and has a “LinerLock” (that green bar you see in the picture) to hold your bag in place. It tilts open by simply stepping on that gray bar at the bottom–so easy, our toddler can do it (and he LOVES to do it!)

The top compartment is 5.8 gallons and is perfect for recyclables. The lid on top is removable and both compartments have handles for easy carrying. You could also use the Recycler to sort your recyclables in the two different compartments instead of using one for trash…

I think this is exactly what our kitchen needed. We recently moved in and we were still trying to get everything organized–we were still trying to figure out the best way to get things done. This Recycler has really streamlined the process of taking out trash and recyclables… AND it keeps junk off our counters :)

Cons: well, it’s tall so it doesn’t fit in our previous trash spot in one of our lower cabinets. But that really doesn’t bother me at all–now we have an extra cabinet to store more kitchen stuff!! It’s also pretty light-weight, which is nice, but if you put something heavy in the trash, you risk it tipping over when you step on the bottom compartment to open it again. This happened to us only once–when we threw away some old apples and had nothing in the top compartment yet.

Overall, I love it! If you’re constantly having to walk to your garage to get rid of recyclables or you’re leaving them on the counter… you need this! You can buy it online at Rubbermaid for $43.99 or in stores at Meijer.

GIVEAWAY: one lucky reader will win their own 2-in-1 Recycler from Rubbermaid! Please use the form below to enter–none of the entry options are mandatory so you can do as many or as few as you’d like! Good luck!
